Poem – In The Still of The Night

I needed to let some light in on this poem about darkness. The week of suicides of two prominent people.

In the still of the night

when my thoughts drown out reason

my unconscious commits treason

my food too highly seasoned

belies what is true and right

do you have a treat for me?

do you have my wine?

have you answered anything?

do you have the time?

in the still of the night

false hope shrunk my jeans a size

strangling life from my muscular thighs

bleakness now shrouds my stifled cries

I am lost in my dismal plight

do you have a treat for me?

do you have my wine?

have you answered anything?

do you have the time?

in the still of the night

save my dark anguished pains

strength to fight to breathe again

stretch my jeans back to my size then

shatter my darkness with your light

do you have a treat for me?

do you have my wine?

have you answered anything?

do you have the time?
